IISB works to open doors for Indigenous Speakers and Knowledge-keepers to share their wisdom, perspectives, solutions, and world views to communities around the globe. At IISB, we believe education and understanding are key to creating better pathways for our future generations. 2023 Level Up Comms I Continued Experience and Learning
This Level Up Project is for students who wish to learn and develop their communications skills across cultures. This is the one of a gradual multiple-step learning experience designed to allow students to garner continued learning and experience in Indigenous Communications. Project Details: In this project level students will continue to build upon the skills learned and developed in previous project levels and attend respective team meetings. The goal of this project is to equip students with the necessary skills to work with IISB, an Indigenous organization, to develop communications assets. Students who complete this level of communications experience will then be eligible to go on to the next level of communications projects.
2023 Level Up Comms D Beginning Indigenous Communications
This Level Up Project is for interns who wish to learn and develop their communications skills across cultures. This is one step in a multiple step learning experience in Indigenous Communications. Project Details: In this project level students will take what they have learned from the first three level up projects and begin to practice teachings through independent work periods and attending respective team meetings. Students will work to develop and edit speaker biographies, introductions, quote sheets, and Knowledge Nugget descriptions. Once a first draft is complete students will meet with a Communication specialist to review their work and learn further communications tips and techniques. The goal of this project is to equip students with the necessary skills to completely work with IISB, an Indigenous organization, to develop communications assets. Students who complete this level of communication training, will then be eligible to go on to the next level of communications projects.
2023 Level Up Comms A Introduction to General Communications
This Level Up Project is for students who wish to learn and develop their communications skills across cultures. Project Level A: Introduction to General Communications This is the first of a gradual multiple step learning experience in Indigenous Communications. Project Details: In this project level students will watch 6 Indigenous Education videos, complete corresponding reflection pages for each, and attend respective team meetings. Students will shadow and work alongside a Communications specialist to become familar with general communications, journalistic communications and familarizing themselves with IISB platforms and techniques. The goal of this project is to equip students with the necessary skills to competely work with IISB, an Indigenous organization, to develop communications assets. Students who complete this level of communication project, will then be eligible to go on to the next level of communications projects.
2023 Level Up Comms C Introduction to Building Relations Communications
This Level Up Project is for students who wish to learn and develop their communications skills across cultures. This is one step of a multiple step learning experience in Indigenous Communications. Project Details: In this project level students will continue to watch further Indigenous Education videos, complete corresponding reflection pages for each, and attend respective team meetings. Continuing to shadow and work alongside a Communications specialist, students will learn to combine two worlds using the teachings from the first two level up projects to discover the difference between Western and Indigenous communication styles and techniques. The goal of this project is to equip students with the necessary skills to completely work with IISB, an Indigenous organization, to develop communications assets. Students who complete this level of communication training, will then be eligible to go on to the next level of communications projects.
