Students apply service marketing theory to a variety of service-based businesses (e.g. professional services, hospitals, banks, etc.) Topics include customer relationship management, customer satisfaction, service quality, employees’ and customers’ role in service delivery, and the services marketing mix factors. Working in teams of 5-6 students, our 4th year Marketing students will apply their knowledge of service marketing to a real-life organization with a particular problem/challenge related to the marketing of their services.

To enhance student awareness and understanding of corporate purposes and applications of human resource policies. 2. To provide practical experience with policy development and audit. 3. To facilitate student awareness of municipal employment contexts in general.

Managing in an International Environment

In this course, students integrate and apply a range of multifunctional business concepts from marketing, finance, and general management fields to evaluate strategic decisions undertaken by organizations operating in international settings. Students analyze the current situation of international firms and develop potential strategic alternatives for the organization. Working in small teams, 4th year business students will study your business and the best options for entering a new international market. They will provide an analysis of top options and provide recommendations with an implementation plan. Please note: Your initial acceptance in this project does not guarantee that the professor will select your organization. We will be contacting each organization to ensure that the scope of the project fits the requirements of this class. Preference will be given to manufacturing or product-based organizations rather than to services.

Change Management Consultation

Is your business or organization going through a major change? We’re looking for Organizational Change Industry projects. Our students are currently studying Organizational Development, with a specific focus on Change Management. The cohort consist of 3rd year bachelors students and 2nd year (senior) diploma students. Industry partners selected will be a “Live Case Study” for the course, which means many students will be working in teams on developing tools and resources to support the changes in each company/organization. In other words, lots of ideas and resources for your company! Please note: Your initial acceptance in this project does not guarantee that the professor will select your organization. We will be contacting each organization to ensure that the scope of the project fits the requirements of this class. All selected community partners must be able to do in-person presentations if Alberta Health Services/MacEwan University deems it safe to do so.

Level UP: Emerging Leaders (2021)
Emerging Leaders is a new workshop series that focuses on leadership themes, topics and frameworks. Open to all MacEwan University students, the workshops aim to enhance understanding and application of leadership skills. The sessions focus on developing a deeper understanding of self through critical dialogue, awareness activities and ongoing reflection. This is a partnership between MacEwan University and the Level UP program (powered by Riipen), which allows employers to bring on Canadian post-secondary students for 80-hour paid projects. Students are paid a $1400 CAD stipend on completion of the project by Riipen . Employers are not required to provide payment. Read more about the program here. Once a project has been approved for this posting, students will apply to the project directly - individually, or in teams. Diversity and Inclusion Consulting

Do you want to ensure that your organization is incorporating equitable practices that are inclusive and meet current diversity standards? In this project, groups of student-consultants will perform an inclusion and diversity assessment at your workplace to assess where your company currently stands and then provide recommendations for incorporating equitable practices that are relevant for your company. Studies show that workplaces that value diversity gain a competitive advantage, have more adaptable and creative workforces, and perform better financially than similar firms. Many young job-seekers want to work at firms that value diversity, and rank a diverse workplace as extremely important in deciding what firms they want to work for.

Marketing and Leasing

Students acquire the knowledge on how to market and lease commercial/retail/industrial properties. Students examine the lease market in general as well as micro markets affecting subject properties. Upon identification of a target market for either an existing subject property that is to be repositioned or a proposed new development, a marketing plan will be created with the goal of completing a full lease-up. This activity will include determination of lease/rental rates, promotions, a detailed advertising strategy, property presentation, and customer service approach. To have students interact and engage with Commercial Real Estate companies or brokers of all sizes and specialties (retail, commercial, industrial). To have the students learn about the different customer service approaches and problems that Commercial Real Estate companies are faced by interacting with the clients.

Community Mental Health: High Priority Populations

Students can conduct usability tests to assess and improve the UX (user experience) of a digital product. Students can create mockups, wireframes and prototypes for mobile apps and web sites to validate structure, flow and user behavior to improve the UX (user experience).

This course is an undergraduate Organizational Management course on Business Consulting and is composed of students from all streams of business (i.e., human resources, marketing, finance, etc.) looking to put those business skills to good use! Please note: We will be accepting twice as many project applications as there are student teams. Students will choose which projects they want to work with that fill their own specific skill sets during the first week of classes in January. Community Partner organizations will be informed of the students' choice by the end of the second week of January.
